Cheese and Wine Tasting Event
In celebration of local artisan and farmstead cheeses, The Watershed Cafe is hosting a Cheese and Wine Tasting Event, set for Sunday, February 26 at 5pm. Enjoy 5 regional cheeses as guest expert Chris Kohtz, owner of The Wedge and Wheel in Stillwater, MN, discusses the qualities that make these cheeses so special. The cost of the event is $50/person, featuring 5 cheeses with 2 wine pairings from 65 Vines in Roberts, WI, and an array of accompaniments. Please pre-register at The Watershed Cafe.
Guest expert, Chris Kohtz, brought a lifetime of media and broadcast management, staff development, local food cooperative board leadership, and a love of good, farm-to-table food together to launch The Wedge and Wheel in January 2014. Inspired by visits to London and several great cheese shops, Chris started a cheese blog to educate himself about artisan and farmstead cheeses. Through traveling the country and networking, a plan came together for what would become The Wedge and Wheel. With a focus on customer service, quality selection, and listening to the needs of the community, he hopes to build The Wedge and Wheel into an essential business in the community.
As Chris guides us through the unique characteristics of 5 specialty cheeses from our region, he will also provide a pairing tutorial with 2 featured wines from 65 Vines. 65 Vines is a family owned and operated winery located in Roberts, WI, and is known to be the first licensed winery in St. Croix County.
"We are very excited to be able to combine our efforts with The Wedge and Wheel and 65 Vines," said co-owner of The Watershed Cafe, Rita Rasmuson. "We love good food, and like so many of us in Wisconsin, we love good cheese!" Rasmuson went on to say, "The cheese of the St. Croix River Valley offer unique, local flavor. We wanted to highlight these distinctive tastes while featuring wine-makers in our area."
Join us in our celebration of local flavor!
