New Art Display at The Watershed Cafe
The Watershed Cafe is proud to feature artwork by local artist Roxanne Dear. Her beautiful paintings are rich and colorful, with unique designs and detail. Using just one brush and different-sized dots and layers, Roxanne's whimsical artwork stands out among the rest.
Roxanne has lived in Osceola, WI for 20 years. She started painting on stones in 2015 and added canvas painting in 2016. While the dot paintings are incredibly time-consuming (her elephant design took three months to create), she finds the process to be calming and meditative.
"The process starts with a basic sketch, and the designs take off on their own," Roxanne explained. Her art is based on geometric designs; adding rich colors, contrast, and the texture of layered dots gives her art a life of its own.
In addition to her art, Roxanne is a professional quilter. Using a long-arm machine, Roxanne creates free-hand decorative stitching for quilt tops to bind the layers together. Her art designs bring quilts together to truly finish the work.
