New Art at The Watershed Cafe
This month's featured art display is brought to you by Jessica Turtle, a talented local artist whose paintings capture the whimsical nature of the world around her.
In her biography, she says:
"Jessica is a quiet, highly sarcastic and observant person. She spends much of her time watching people, watching birds, and listening to people talk. She enjoys creating narratives about strangers, being curious about how they live, what their passions are, what they love, if they love. She's mostly shy, a little awkward at times, but truly enjoys meeting new and interesting people. She almost always has several projects going, and pushes herself hard to reach new goals.
As an artist, Jessica mainly draws from influential experience. Her move to Osceola (one year ago, May) allowed her to become engulfed by the natural world, as it happened, she began to see evidence of this change in her work. Switching careers, leaving the city and taking time to learn what she appreciates most, brought with it a new style of working she didn't anticipate. Letting her new life grow brought with it a series of works that represent her humor, her observations of people, love and fear of bugs, and the general whimsy she wears daily.
Beyond art making, you will find Jessica teaching cooking classes, curating art exhibits, and hanging out with her family and two silly dogs. She also has a little space (Murmur) in The Looking Glass, that she shares with her best friend of 22 years. Taking her designs to clothing was a great adventure and she hopes to do more in the near future."
